This training is an introductory course open to all healing arts practitioners interested in incorporating sound and music into their clinical practice. Topics covered including psychodynamics of instruments and voice, how to deeply listen with touch using tuning forks, the history of sound in the healing arts, sound bath facilitation, vocal improvisation, mindfulness and music in clinical practice and more.

SoundBody's Sound Therapy Training is designed for healing arts practitioners already familiar with sound and with some basic knowledge of anatomy. Facilitated by licensed creative arts therapist, Katie Down (MT-BC, LCAT) and classical osteopath Joseph Schmidlin (DOmtp, LMT) with guest facilitator, Michael Jay (gong master) the training focuses on sound, music and deep listening as diagnostic and healing tools in clinical practice. Students will engage in hands on practicum training, understand how sound affects the neuroendocrine system, how to listen with our hands and whole body, how listening is the key to healing, as well as basic instrument and vocal techniques to use with clients.

This counts as an elective in the 300hr Teacher Training. It is also available as a stand-alone immersion for interested students. T​his weekend-long immersion in sound gives students an opportunity to delve into ways of listening, how listening informs our personal and professional practice, and how to use specific instruments including the voice in our healing modalities, yoga practice, meditation practice and personal lives​. Sound Immersion Weekend is open to anyone interested in learning about sound as a tool for healing. Open to teachers, body-workers, yoga instructors, musicians, therapists, and anyone curious about ways of listening to connect ourselves and each other to our world​.​
